Chief Instructor: Sensei Gunther Blancke
Sensei Gunther Blancke (centre) is a well known figure in Brussels and Belgium karate circles.
He is the son of one of Belgium's early karate masters, the late Maurice Blancke and started practicing karate at the age of 4 in his father’s dojo. Gunther operates the Blancke Academy Karate Club with dojos in Uccle and Strombeek. He is a 4th Dan Black Belt with vast experience instructing karate, kick-boxing, MMA (mixed martial arts) and self-defence skills in Belgium, the United States and Brazil for over 30 years.
Shotokan karate is the style taught at all classes, with emphasis on kihon, kata and kumite and applying techniques for practical self-defence. His warm-up exercises are legendary, with a focus on cardio and flexibility, and are an excellent work-out!
Gunther is assisted by Igor Popović (left) and Thomas Dall (right) who have over 25 years of karate training and instruction experience.
